Staffing

Up to 24 children can be accommodated per session. The staff to child ratio is at least 1:8 (depending on the age range of the session).

We currently have a Playgroup Supervisor, three staff members and two support staff. Each member has been police checked, is trained to National Guidelines and all staff undertake regular training to update their skills. We may also have a student who is training to obtain their childcare NVQ.

During a normal session we usually have a Parent Helper. This involvement is highly valued giving you a chance to see your child in the Playgroup environment, bring new skills or ideas and to spend time interacting with the children.

The Playgroup is run by a committee made up of enthusiastic parents. Involvement in this and all fundraising activities is vital to help the Playgroup run smoothly and successfully.

Session times

Playgroup is held on five mornings a week from 9:15am to 12 noon. If there is sufficient demand for places, afternoon sessions will be opened (1pm to 3:45pm).

Lunch Club

The children are invited to attend a lunch club which runs from 12 noon – 12.30 pm Monday to Friday. A small charge is made for this extra club and the children can enjoy eating their own packed lunches together. The number of lunch club sessions available is dependent on spaces. Depending on demand then a later lunch club from 12.30pm - 1pm may be opened.
