A typical session

Every half term activities are planned around different themes such as seaside, food, colours, shapes etc.

Free play

A session consists of a variety of activities made available, such as sand or water, painting, jigsaws, play-dough, construction toys, drawing and ICT (Information Communications Technology). There is a craft table, book corner and a role play area, which may take the form of a kitchen, a hospital, a vet or a shop, to name but a few.

Large group time

Children sit in a large group and talk about items they have brought for the interest table. The children then respond to their names on the register. This is followed by action or nursery rhymes. We also have a selection of musical instruments.

We have a regular programme of educational visits from, for example, a local dentist, the community police officer, the fire service etc.

Busy Bees

Our Busy Bees include all children going to school in the September following their fourth birthday. During the session these children will do hand and eye co-ordination activities, board games, lotto, dominoes and occasional work sheets. These activities are adult led.

Snack time

A staggered snack time where children are offered milk or water and a selection of fruit. Children are encouraged to pour their own drinks and choose their own fruit.

Outdoor / indoor physical play

The children can enjoy outdoor play on our purpose built soft play area and on the large grass area at the rear of the hall. There is a wide variety of sit 'n' rides as well as a slide, tunnels, parachute, trampettes, balls and hoops. In bad weather physical games and musical movement happen inside.

Large group story time

Children sit quietly and enjoy listening to a story. At the end of the session children take it in turns to invite the parents into the hall.

Special events

Various events are held throughout the year for example a nativity play and party at Christmas, an Easter lunch and summer sports day and outing. A number of other fund-raising events also take place.
